Cuando los altos funcionarios cesan su actividad en el Comité Económico y Social Europeo, por norma no están autorizados para llevar a cabo actividades de promoción o defensa de intereses ante sus antiguos colegas durante un período de doce meses. El CESE realiza un seguimiento de las actividades exteriores realizadas por sus antiguos altos funcionarios y cada año publica un informe sobre este seguimiento.
