  • As the EU is looking to expand its circle of key partners against a backdrop of uncertainty over transatlantic relations, India seems a perfect ally, being the largest formal democracy in the world, with market and economic growth (including in green technology) that represent a valuable opportunity for EU companies. The World Bank expects India to overtake Japan and Germany and emerge as the world’s third-largest economy by 2030.

  • The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has welcomed the European Oceans Pact, urging the European Commission to ensure it goes beyond a mere statement of intent and becomes a comprehensive framework for action. In its exploratory opinion, adopted during the March plenary, the EESC stresses that for the pact to be effective, it must align with existing EU policies such as the blue economy strategy, the Green Deal, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

  • On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the ratification of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between Kazakhstan and the EU, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) adopted at its March plenary session an action plan for enhancing cooperation between civil society organisations in the European Union and Kazakhstan. 

  • The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has adopted in plenary its evaluation of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund for the 2014-2020 period. The opinion aims to assess the effectiveness, relevance and inclusiveness of these key EU funding instruments, providing insights that will shape future cohesion policies.

  • On 6 March, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) hosted a debate on the European Commission’s Clean Industrial Deal. With the Council set to discuss the deal on 12 March, policymakers, industry leaders, workers and civil society representatives weighed in on whether the plan can truly deliver for Europe’s clean-tech and energy-intensive industries, strategic autonomy and green transition.

  • A seminar held in Warsaw under the auspices of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union stressed the need to provide all European people with access to decent, sustainable and affordable housing
