The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.
The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

This conference in Lisbon is the fourth event on disinformation being hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) as part of its ongoing project aiming to fight disinformation with the help of civil society.
This joint public hearing is being organised as part of preparations for two related opinions. Firstly, it will gather insights from organised civil society on progress with, and the challenges of, implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR), and will involve collecting proposals for the upcoming new EPSR Action Plan. Secondly, the hearing will also discuss the forthcoming EU Anti-Poverty Strategy, including the role of the social partners and other civil society organisations in shaping policies and measures to combat poverty and social exclusion within the EPSR framework.

The EU-Serbia Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) will hold its 19th meeting on 7 April 2025 at the EESC in Brussels. This platform, established within the institutional framework of the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA), will enable representatives from both the EU and Serbian civil society to monitor the country's accession negotiations, discuss issues of common interest, and highlight concerns to be addressed on Serbia's path towards the European Union.
The European Training Foundation (ETF), the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) are jointly organising an event on social dialogue in the Western Balkans.
