EU-UK Youth Engagement

In recognition of the clear interest in youth engagement for all citizens and considering that post-Brexit changes have had a disproportionately significant impact on the mobility of younger people both in the EU and in the UK, this EESC own-initiative opinion on EU-UK Youth Engagement aims to facilitate a reflection on how to amplify youth voice to ensure deeper and more sustainable relations between young people from both sides of the Channel. It does so by offering youth testimonials and other evidence from across the UK and by exploring options such as a reciprocal youth mobility scheme, and other types of youth engagement and recommendations to address the particular concerns of all groups of young people. As a committed youth champion, the EESC believes that this opinion paves the way for a structured engagement between the EU, UK-level authorities and the UK devolved nations, thus strengthening youth civil society dialogue and cooperation.
