EC President Jean-Claude Juncker, EESC President Georges Dassis and Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Löfven at the Social Summit for Fair Jobs and Growth 2017

Led by its President Georges Dassis, a delegation of EESC members took part in the high-level social summit in Gothenburg on 17 November where the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) was jointly proclaimed by the European Commission, the Council and the European Parliament. In a show of support for the EPSR, the EESC has repeatedly warned in its opinions that without social rights, backed by a sound and sustainable economic basis, the future of the EU will be at stake.
