The role of trade unions in improving productivity
In the light of the political developments following the Letta and Draghi reports' recommendations, the Workers' Group is holding a debate on the issue of industrial productivity. The aim is to analyse, with the help of economic experts from academia and trade unions, different drivers of productivity growth, focusing also on the human side of productivity and factors that affect it such as wages and new technologies, particularly AI. The role of trade unions in improving productivity will be explored in this framework, particularly the mechanisms that contribute to productivity growth, namely collective bargaining, and collective action and voice.
