Meeting of the EU-Russia and Central Asia Follow up Committee

The EU-Russia and Central Asia Follow-up Committee met on 6th November to discuss the current situation of civil society in Russia. Two independent reports, respectively on freedom of speech and on disinformation, were presented by a human rights-defending organisation, and there was a general update by the Russia Division within the EEAS. The meeting continued with a panel on Central Asia, an area on which the Follow-up Committee will start working soon, among other with an own-initiative opinion on Kazakhstan. Finally, there was a discussion on the EESC's initiative against disinformation held in Sofia last June and on the current organization of a similar event in Moldova at the beginning of next year.
