The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

Frankrike tar över ordförandeskapet för Europeiska unionens råd vid en avgörande tidpunkt då Europeiska unionen står inför många hälsomässiga, sociala, ekonomiska och miljörelaterade utmaningar.
Till dess huvudprioriteringar hör strävan efter ett Europa som är suveränare i fråga om migration, försvar och grannskapspolitik, vid sidan av andra viktiga mål, såsom att skapa en ny europeisk modell som förenar de ekonomiska, miljömässiga och sociala dimensionerna, eller att stärka vår känsla av samhörighet, vilket är syftet med det europeiska projektet och en fråga som står i centrum för konferensen om Europas framtid. Under sitt ordförandeskap för Europeiska unionens råd har Frankrike även för avsikt att ägna särskild uppmärksamhet åt de unga, som under 2022 uppmärksammas genom Europaåret för ungdomar.
Europeiska ekonomiska och sociala kommittén är fast besluten att samarbeta nära med det franska ordförandeskapet och göra de europeiska civilsamhällesorganisationernas röst hörd, och gläder sig åt utsikterna till att arbeta med ordförandeskapet för att skapa ett starkt och medborgarnära EU. I denna broschyr presenteras EESK:s viktigaste verksamhet och initiativ för att stödja ordförandeskapets insatser.
