Action Plan for enhancing cooperation between civil society organisations in the European Union and Kazakhstan, in the framework of the implementation of the New Strategy on Central Asia and of the Global Gateway

In the last years, the EU has been extending its cooperation with the Central Asian countries, with the signature of different agreements. The EU-Kazakhstan Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement is already in the implementation phase and its article 251 contains provisions on civil society.

With this own-initiative opinion, the EESC will take stock of the situation of civil society in Kazakhstan, in order to lay down foundations for a future structured cooperation. The opinion will also be a way to continue the Committee's work on the implementation and the results of the Global Gateway initiative.

A fact-finding mission will take place in the framework of the drawing-up of the opinion.
