It is my pleasure to invite you to the 567th Plenary Session of the European Economic and Social Committee.
On Wednesday 23 February at 3 p.m., we will hold a debate on The impact of COVID-19 on fundamental rights and the rule of law across the EU and the future of democracy with Věra Jourová, European Commission Vice-President for Values and Transparency.
On the same day, at 4.30 p.m., we will have a discussion entitled How can we create a more resilient, innovative and sustainable tourism? with:
- Martha Schultz, Managing Director of the Schultz Group, Vice-President of EUROCHAMBRES and Vice-President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber,
- Alberto Corti, Head of the Tourism Sector of the Italian General Confederation of Enterprises, Professions and Self-Employment (Confcommercio-Imprese per l'Italia),
- Kerstin Howald, Political Secretary of the European Federation of Trade Unions in the Food, Agriculture and Tourism, and
- Claudia Monteiro De Aguiar, Member of the European Parliament, rapporteur on the topic "Establishing an EU strategy for sustainable tourism".
On Thursday 24 February at 10 a.m. we are organising a debate on Fit for 55: delivering the EU's 2030 Climate Target on the way to climate neutrality, with Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President of the Commission, in charge of the European Green Deal.
I will be glad to welcome you at our plenary session. To that end, I invite you to use webstreaming, which will allow you to follow all the votes and discussions remotely.
